You have an MP3 player and MP4 player (which I admit we havent invesigated yet) and a built in DVB-T digital TV, You just plug in the aerial and scan for channels like on a normal TV and hey presto you have TV to watch. When you are stuck in a truck on a break or because you have ended up with a night out, it is nice to be able to watch a bit of TV, This is subject to getting reception where you are at the time, so you can’t always get all the channels and sometimes you might only get one or two, but its brilliant anyway and the screen is just large enough to be able to sit back and enjoy it for a bit. It also has an active traffic management system, so it will alert you to a traffic problem and enable you to ask the S7000 to re-route you and avoid the problem.

So, is it worth the money? Class it as an investment, if you are self employed you can claim it as expenses, so why not give it a go, Yes its a lot of money to find especially as many of you will already have a regular Sat-nav, but I would say this is well worth the money, you can use it in the car too, it enables you to select that option and it works as just a normal sat-nav, you can use it if driving a motorhome or towing a caravan, so if you are into that, it would work (although I am aware there are similar items available specifically for that). Hubbie doesn’t know how he survived without now to be fair and he says that it was well worth the expense as it has saved him from many problematic situations.

Snooper S7000 Truckmate user review

I bought a Snooper S7000 Truckmate last February 2010 after reading the reviews on the item, being like most truck drivers I was sick of going down narrow streets, streets with weight restrictions, and cul-de-sac’s. so I bought a Snooper S7000 Truckmate… please beware it doesn’t do all it makes out to do. in the short time that i’ve had my Snooper it continues to send me down roads with 7.5 weight restrictions, when I’ve clearly programmed it for a 44t articulated vehicle. on some occations the spoken directions doesn’t give a truck enough time to change lanes as instructed (700 meters on a motorway when the filter lane is over a mile long). it will show you the distance to the next manover, but it won’t tell you what it is, like the Tom Tom does, (i.e turn off, roundabout, change lanes, etc). The HGV Keyfuels Is wayout of date, it directs you to places where the garages haven’t sold fuel for years and yet places like Wetherby Services on the A1 doesn’t even register as a Keyfuels depot? the maps are also out of date, some of the old roads that your looking for aren’t on the sat nav, sometimes you could be going down a road only to find a new roundabout installed some 12 months ago. you pay extra for the speed camares which are out of date as well. I update my Snooper every 1-2 weeks and still very little changers. I have e-mailed Snooper informing them of this they sent me 3 e-mail addresses advising me to notify them of the problems. Q. what have i paid £420.00 for? what can I say? (Wish I’d bought a Tom Tom Truck now)

The robust (rugged American) meets intelligent. We are facing a standard cliche Italian comedy, or good looking, American, but it can work for a phone? I have dealt at this smartphone from Motorola, the DEFY (MB525 or Italian version) and the conclusions, it is to cross your eyes.

FORCE

The phone’s outer shell is made of plastic slip, with an excellent tactile feedback that gives a feeling of unexpected strength and confidence between the fingers. Some of the highlights of the screen are the Gorilla GLASS, which keeps the screen protected scratches without additional films and anti aesthetic. Other highlights include the multi-touch input, the proximity sensor, auto-off sensor and accelerometer automatically rotates the user interface.

The display occupies almost the entire front of the device. I waited for a screen with no bezel edge to edge and this is the closest I’ve seen. The display resolution of 854 x 480 puts it in direct competition with much larger samples from the price. An example in the house? Droid 2. Absolute top of the range.
Here comes the SMART
The challenge along the line of a 2.1 with Android MOTOBLUR, until you update to 2.2 or 2.3. My thoughts on this setup is fairly simple: it works fine. The customization is there, available to everyone at the touch of a finger, allowing users to add widgets anywhere. Functionally, it is a very simple way to get users, experts and otherwise, to use the widget. In short, it works well for everyone.

TomTom Go 730 user review

When we first had a Sat Nav a few years ago I was distraught! I loved navigating with the map and felt redundant! lol! That was in the past, since I’ve used it a lot I love it and really it is a map and I can still navigate, this is our latest one bought a couple of years ago for travelling to France, these are the reasons I love it;

1.
I love the touch screen, it has a simple menu and you can navigate around using this, there is volume controls, brightness controls and much more, it has a setting for nightime driving and daytime setting.
Once on there click navigate to, put in the address or postcode or town, if you choose town it will always take you to the centre of the town. It will then tell you how many miles and the arrival time!

There are a number of views to choose, we find it easiest to set it to direction of travel north, this means it’s always going the way you’re going.
I like the fact that this one zooms in when you get close to a junction so that you can easily see which lane you’re to be in and what the junction looks like, also this one has the road gantry sign names which you should be following which is extremely helpful on motorway junctions.

It tells you the speed of the road you are travelling on and what your speed is, it also has a little bleeping noise when you are approaching a camera which is handy to keep you speed in check. We especially found this useful in France when we weren’t exactly sure of speed, you can also change the setting to Kilometers for this so it’s easy to follow if you wish.

If you are travelling along happily and then suddenly hit a road block or some other obsticle then you can just click on the screen and say ‘avoid road block’ or ‘navigate via’ and it will re-calculate a route for you. You can also plan a route without using motorway or toll roads if you wish the other option in the route planning is shortest or fastest, we find generally the fastest is by far the best although in London I have used shortest as everyone goes fastest and this way avoids some of the blocks!

It has European maps on it! I was so amazed that when driving on the other side of the road it actually knows that! sad I know but it even goes round the roundabouts the wrong way so you know! I guess it has to because it’ll say 2nd exit so if it went the wrong way round it would be completely wrong! lol!
It was so handy going to France, we’ve been in the past and got off in Calais or St Malo and had no idea where we’re going, trying to remember to drive on the right side of the road and having to read French let alone trying to Navigate the route you want, this takes all the hassle out of that, you can pre-plan your route while on the ferry if you wish and as soon as you come off click go, it takes a few minutes to connect to the gps when you come off the ferry sometimes we’ve been spotted parked up while we wait for it to adjust this doesn’t take long and off we go. The roads are sometimes hard to hear as the sat nav tries to say them in French!

It is extremely compact and lightweight, it comes with a stick on the window thing which is quite good although I’ve just noticed you can buy one that clips into a fan grill which would be easier for us as this is in the middle and when hubby is driving I like to have a fiddle with it and see where we’re going which I can’t do if he’s got it on the drivers side! It also can connect to traffic stations so that there is an extra little bit down the side which tells you of any accidents/holdups on your route and how long the delay is likely to be unfortunately I broke ours by squashing it! oops!

This Tomtom can be updated with the computer, it also has references to POI’s (Places of interest) which are good, including picnic areas, petrol stations, shopping, museums and much more. We especially find the petrol one useful as we use LPG (Liquid Petrolium Gas) and it lists these seperately you can also have it come on and say ‘LPG forecourt in 2miles next one 10miles’ which is handy.

Browse map function is useful, by using this you can click a little symbol which then places the cursor where you are, you can zoom in and out of the area and have a look where you’d like to go with the places of interest marked on there, you can choose one and they click ‘navigate there’ which is useful. Sometimes we’ve been on some great little adventrues using this on holiday!
I’ve just looked to see how much these are now, I see a re-conditioned one is £129.99 or a new one is about £150.00 (Aug 2010)

The size of the screen is 9.5×5.5cm or 11cm corner to corner.
All in all it’s a great little gadget and I wouldn’t be without it now

The HTC Touch2 is an affordable (£280ish pay as you go) Windows Mobile 6.5 phone. It is a small and compact phone and unlike other high end handsets weighs only 110g. Despite being made from plastic the phone looks very appealing feels solid in your hand. The 2.8” screen is very sensitive which makes using the phone easy. There is a touch sensitive bar below the screen which is used to zoom in and out while looking at picture and surfing the internet. The phone comes with My Phone which is an online syncing service that lets you back up your pictures, contacts ect. The phone only has 512 of ROM but can be expanded using the SD slot. The HTC Touch2 is charged via miniUSB port located on the bottom and there is a 3.5mm jack is on the top.

One of my favourite things about Windows Mobile is the wide range of applications. The phone comes with Windows Live, Facebook and YouTube applications preinstalled but it you can download more using the Windows Marketplace application.
The battery life is pretty bad. I found that I have to charge it up every night but I think that’s normal for this type of phone.

The 3.2MP camera performs very badly, especially indoors. The camera lacks auto focus, flash or a dedicated camera key and if you have a shaky hand then your pictures are going to turn out very blurry.
The phone doesn’t turn to landscape which can make texting a little awkward. You can chose from three different keyboards but it is best to use the stylos when texting on the full qwerty as the buttons are very small.

Some of the features on the phone are quite plain and boring. For example, the calendar is just some very basic colours and straight lines. This is also the same for the contacts , inbox, texting screen ect.
